Anonymity is needed

Many people are focused on the fact that trolls use anonymity to harass people omline, but what most don't realize is that we need some sort of anonymity to be able to freely express ourselves with no attachments.  Without anonymity, people won't feel comfortable asking for feedback on a certain topic, regarding their personal life.  If someone were to have questions about an STD, or some other sort of medical problem, they wouldn't want all of their friends and family to know that they have questions about that.  It's all about feeling comfortable. Without anonymity, people wouldn't seek as much feedback as they would if they had anonymity.

  1. I agree with your statement Karen. I believe that anonymity is needed as well because It is fair to say that almost everyone has used the internet to find some information regarding their personal life that they wouldn't want anyone else to know about. Although, I am for the limiting of anonymity, I know that we do need anonymity so that the people of today's society have no limitations in terms of collaborating and researching what they want.

  2. I definitely agree with what you're saying. Although there are some problems that come along with anonymity, there are also many pros that come with it that are very important to a lot of people out there and it should not be taken away from them. After all, online trolling is never going to stop so at some point we have to just oversee it and look at the positives instead of focusing on the negatives.
