The link above is actually an article. Its about the science of web trolls. Read it. My opinion about it is that it's spot on. It just goes over the basics of how the mind works with trolls. Almost like a science. It goes on to talk about the three traits that troll's have which are technically being a sadist, a narcissist, and being psychopathy (if that's even a word, they use it in the article). It's very informative.
I think the article is spot on with the characteristics about the common traits trolls display. A sadist is someone who finds pleasure in hurting others, a narcissist is selfish, and psychopathy is when people lack empathy and are antisocial. I also believe the way they grew up has to do a lot with how they act online. They may not have had a positive upbringing and lead them to act this way or they may not have gotten necessary attention when younger and get it by acting a certain way online.
