How does the way animals are treated and raised affect the meat they produce?

This source points out that in most cases these days, animals on farms are not raised the traditional way. By traditional, I mean smaller farms that raise animals in better conditions. Today, most farms are industrial farms where animals are raised in extremely small enclosed spaces, with no sunlight. Animals are often times injected with different hormones to make them grow faster and produce more meat, which interferes with their true health. For instance, "Pens and cages restrict the natural behavior and movement of animals. In some cases...the animals can't even turn around." This way of life makes it possible for these "farms" to produce a significantly greater amount of meat, but it also disregards animal welfare, the environment, and the food quality.
