Placing Blame

So, for the research paper I decided that I was going to write about the responsibility of eating bad food – basically, placing blame. Through my research, I found that the fault of bad eating habits doesn’t lie solely with the individual. Because so many factors influence consumer choices, all those factors, as well as the consumer, contributed to current eating habits. I also didn’t want to make it completely about blame, either, so I was researching how each of the influencing factors could help improve society’s bad eating. More specifically, I was focusing on the consumer, the government, and food companies. I found a lot of helpful information about how each of those contributors could help better the situation. I was finding things like “Grow your own food” …. “Make healthy foods cheaper and more available” …. “Require companies to include all the facts and label honestly on their products” …. Etc. However, I could use more information on how they helped cause the situation – little bits here and there aren’t enough. For example, I know the government gives a decent amount of aide to protect the bigger corporations, but I can’t name any specific ways. I also know that food companies don’t market healthy foods and are only worried about profit rather than consumer safety, but that’s practically all I’ve got in that category. So, if you guys find anything in your research that elaborates more on how the consumer, the government, and food companies contributed to society’s bad eating habits let me know. :)
