This Weird Country

My mindset about this country is still and always being the same. Why? I do not like how the country portrays our food to be clean and real. When it is really not clean or real, because most of the food that is being "made" in the US is fake, giving human being’s pesticide growing in their vegetables and fruits for looking a larger size. Who wouldn't like this country after learning about the secrets of the food companies!? Will it ever change the way I eat? Yeah, I will watch out on what this country will bring in front of me and my stomach. The crazy part is, many of the companies that are giving consumers these artificial flavors, gmos, and saturated fats are giving their families this too. It's crazy how everything works in this country that we live in. This whole unit, made me think of raising my own cattle, fish, pig, chicken, and growing my own veggies and fruits (even though I grow them anyway). As Americans, we should eat better because around the world, they stay eating healthier than us. That's crazy! I will eat healthier and still have a burger and fries here and there. Since, we were on this unit, I always thought about eating a salad at a restaurant like the reality tv celebrities do. And wondering  how that will feel, like actually eating a salad and getting nothing else from the menu while other people have ribs and mac and cheese. Man, that'll be hard.

  1. I agree that it really sucks that the government allows these things to go on under the table. Especially when you realize that, in some cases, the government even protects these corporations, instead of forcing honest labeling. Through my research in this unit, I found it interesting that the government and MANY of these big food corporations claim that good/bad food decisions are a part of personal responsibility. I mean, I understand to an extent, but you can't blame the consumer for making bad choices when no one gives them enough information to make a GOOD decision.

  2. I agree with you on this. It really is sad how the government tries to hide all of these things, but I believe if people did know, most of them wouldn't change their eating habits. Either they just don't want to or they can't afford it. I like how you grow your own vegetables already, I'm thinking about growing my own also. And it is crazy how the government people is feeding it to their own families, even though they know it is not healthy for them. And it's also crazy how they promote these foods to be healthy, when in reality, they are filled with hormones and pesticides. This whole unit changed my perspective on foods.
